Hypnotherapy explained...
In hypnosis, a deep state of relaxation is achieved through focused attention. While in this trance-like state, the unconscious mind is highly receptive to new perspectives and ideas.
It is a natural state which is induced either by the hypnotherapist or the person themselves.
The word Hypnosis comes from the Greek ‘Hypnos’ (to sleep) but far from being asleep, the person in hypnosis may well be in a heightened state of awareness, with improved memory, in which they still have complete control of their own mind. They are however, more open to therapy and suggestions that may be given by the hypnotherapist.
The state of hypnosis is a most pleasant and particularly relaxing natural state during which a person can converse easily. It is a co-operation between patient and therapist.

I may use imagery and positive suggestions to help my clients imagine and actually experience him/herself in the future, as he/she desires to be. This makes the changes he/she wants in his/her life happen much faster and with less resistance, as a result of the hypnosis experience.
I also use Hypno-analysis to discover the original cause of psychological and emotional problems. It is a means to get to the root cause of the problem. Once it is revealed and removed, the symptoms should permanently disappear.
Lots of rumours have been spread about hypnotherapy: "The therapist will control your mind... The therapist can make you do things against your will..." .
We can assure you that those are just rumours. Any respectable therapist would not even think about silly things like that.
A hypnotherapist can not make you do anything against your ethics, values, or beliefs. But you will need to agree to be hypnotised.
So how can hypnotherapy/hypnosis help you?
Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective technique in dealing with certain psychological and behavioural issues. Some conditions particularly susceptible to work with hypnosis are:
- Overcoming phobias
- Stress Management
- Weight issues
- Sleep disorders
- Anxiety, nervousness, exam stress
- Pain management
- Change of habits
- Overcoming 'blocks'
Unfortunately I can’t predict the eventual outcome of a session - much of that depends on your commitment. And I certainly don't claim to offer you some miracle cure that heals all. In fact I don’t actually “treat” you nor do I “cure” you!
What I do is simply guide you through a process designed especially for you, that enables you to change your negative beliefs about yourself and allow positive changes to take place. In other words I help you to help yourself!
